We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO. We strongly encourage patients to use their Health Savings Accounts, Flexible Spending Accounts and out-of-network options which are part of many insurance plans (such as UnitedHealthcare).

Dear Medicare patient:
As of July 22, 2009, I will no longer be a participating Medicare provider because of limited reimbursements and the length of time involved in providing comprehensive holistic medical care.
The cost of a follow up visit will range from $45 to $147, depending on time spent and will be collected at the time of your appointment. We will bill Medicare and your secondary insurance (if you have one) on your behalf as we have done before. The difference will be that the payments will come directly to you. Your lab tests and prescriptions will be covered by Medicare as always.
Continuity of care is very important and I encourage you to continue to see me. You are welcome to continue purchasing your nutritional supplements at our office or through our website.
If you choose to find a new primary care physician, please be aware that Dr. Mitch-Gomez is not accepting new Medicare patients.

Dear Patient:
As of December 1, 2006, we will no longer
be providers for UnitedHealthcare due to financial considerations. This was
not an easy decision for us since we feel that continuity of care is
extremely important for a person’s health and we truly enjoy long term
relationships with our patients. However, we encourage you to remain our
patient on a fee for service basis. We remain providers for Blue Cross
Blue Shield PPO and Medicare.
We will put considerable effort into
making the transition affordable for you. It is important for you to know,
that to the best of our knowledge, your blood tests, Pap smears and
prescriptions will still be covered and that tests or procedures that we
order will still be paid by your insurance. The only difference for
you will be the cost of your visit. If you have a health savings or
flexible spending account in place, you can use it. Also, many insurance plans have
out-of-network benefits, in which you might receive significant
reimbursement for your office visit.
While we understand that not everyone will
be able to continue to see us, we hope to continue our relationship with you
and that it will be better than ever. Unlike many other physicians who have
become “boutique doctors” at an annual charge of $1500 plus charging for
office visits, we will charge only for the time we spend with you.
Periodically, we will continue to keep in
touch with you by e-mail if we have a program or information which might
interest you. If you wish to be removed from our e-mail list, just respond
to that effect next time you receive a communication from us.
If you have been purchasing supplements
from our office, you can continue to do so, or you can purchase at discount
directly from the companies. For Xymogen, call (800) 647-6100 and tell them
you are a Dr. Eklund patient. For Metagenics products, go through www.dreklund.meta-ehealth.com to the on-line store. This website,
besides having an on-line store, has excellent information on a variety of
health and disease-related topics, as well as research on holistic medicine
and herbal/nutritional therapies. Once you establish a username/password
for this site, you will receive a complimentary monthly on-line newsletter
with an update on both traditional and holistic/natural treatments.
Dr. Eklund plans to transition her
practice to focus more on bioidentical hormone replacement therapy and
holistic/functional/integrative medicine, her passions. For more

of family medicine but to spend more time with her patients.
