![]() Marilyn Montgomery, Ph.D. Dr. Marilyn Montgomery is a board-certified counselor with over two decades of experience in assisting others with the developmental transitions that life presents to us all. She is licensed to practice mental health counseling in both Florida and Texas. She has served as an Associate Professor of Psychology and Counselor Education at Florida International University and Florida Atlantic University and as an Assistant Professor of Counselor Education at Texas Tech University. Her research has been funded by the National Institute of Health. Dr. Montgomery has published two books; Building Bridges to Parents and Theories of Counseling and Psychotherapy (with Dr. Jeffrey Kottler), and was a co-author on the popular 1, 2, 3, 4 Parents video-based training program (Active Parenting Publishers). She is also an author or coauthor of more than 50 chapters and articles on topics related to counseling and optimal human development. She is a certified trainer of trainers for Active Parenting Publishers and a Florida Board Approved Supervisor for counseling interns. As an active board member for Talking and Listening to the Children, she helped develop programs for children and parents undergoing family transitions of separation, divorce, and remarriage. She is an experienced and inspiring speaker, addressing professional audiences on topics related to self-care, self-development, and life transitions.
