Dr. Eklund, founder of the Miami Center for Holistic Healing, is a board-certified family physician who blends over two decades of experience in traditional family medicine with herbal remedies, bio-identical hormone replacement therapy, hypnosis, and mind-body therapies. She was one of the first doctors in Florida to be certified by the American Board of Holistic Medicine.

She was formerly Medical Director at South Miami Hospital for both Collaborative Medicine, a program that integrates traditional and complementary therapies,  and the Center for Women’s Medicine. 

Dr. Eklund has served as Associate Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Miami School of Medicine where she still teaches on a voluntary basis. 

Dr. Eklund is an active speaker for professional and community audiences on issues such as menopause, stress, alternative medicine, sexuality, patient-doctor communications, and women’s health.  She is co-author of a multi-media education program used to educate health care providers about domestic violence.  She is often invited to comment on health issues for newspaper articles and television news.

She received her Bachelor of Science and medical degree from Indiana University and completed her Family Medicine residency at the University of Miami.  She has served on the Board of Directors of both the Dade County Medical Association and also the Florida Academy of Family Physicians. She is past vice-chair of the Family Medicine department at Baptist/ South Miami hospitals, and currently serves as Chairperson of the Medical Ethics Committee at South Miami Hospital. She was named by the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce as one of three finalists for 1999 Physician Healthcare Hero. Dr. Eklund has been listed as one of Miami’s “top doctors” by Miami Magazine.
